The staffing ratios (student to teacher) used to staff the schools for the 2011-12 academic year have resulted in the following class size averages:
- Across the Elementary Schools:
- K = 22.3
- 1st = 24.3
- 2nd = 24.6
- 3rd = 26.6
- 4th = 29.1
- 5th = 31
In the Secondary Schools (Grades 6-12) a class size average of 34:1 has been maintained.
Note: These numbers represent staffing ratios and averages – not individual class sizes. Individual class sizes will vary at all levels.

As follow-up to the 2008 USC US-China Institute East Asian Seminar, teachers and administrators from the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District left LAX on April 1, 2009, to begin an exciting 10-day adventure in China.
