Staffing Ratios

The staffing ratios (student to teacher) used to staff the schools for the 2011-12 academic year have resulted in the following class size averages:

  • Across the Elementary Schools:
  • K  = 22.3
  • 1st = 24.3
  • 2nd = 24.6
  • 3rd = 26.6
  • 4th = 29.1
  • 5th = 31

In the Secondary Schools (Grades 6-12) a class size average of 34:1 has been maintained.

Note: These numbers represent staffing ratios and averages – not individual class sizes. Individual class sizes will vary at all levels.

PV China Journey Website

As follow-up to the 2008 USC US-China Institute East Asian Seminar, teachers and administrators from the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District left LAX on April 1, 2009, to begin an exciting 10-day adventure in China. The PV China Journey team participated in a project funded by the U.S. State Department, the Annenberg Foundation, the Freeman Foundation, and a private foundation.  To share the adventure and view the results of the project:
